The Nest Credit Card from American Express

The Nest Credit Card from American Express is currently offering 5000 bonus points which can be redeemed for $50 gift certificate. It’s designed for newlyweds who want discounts and rewards for their purchases. The reward program gives one point for every dollar spend on the card. If you spend over $15000 on the card, you will receive an additional 10000 points bonus. Points can be redeemed for travel, entertainment, shopping, and more. There is no limit on the amount of points you can earn.

In my opinion, the best features of this card consist of bonus points, access to reward program, and special discounts at participating merchants. After you are approved, American Express will send The Nest Planning Kit to help you organize and manage your home expenses and joint finances. The Nest Credit Card from American Express also offers discounts and special offers at The Nest and its retail partners.

In addition to the bonus points, it provides standard benefits and services commonly found with American Express credit cards. They include auto rental insurance, a purchase protection plan, various travel and emergency assistance services, and up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance.

More importantly, there is no annual fee, and the APR for purchases and balance transfers is reasonably low for a reward card. Not only will the 5000 bonus points is worthwhile to apply, you will benefit from the reward program, the special offers and discounts, and the various services provided.

Quick Summary:

Citi PremierPass Elite $200 Bonus or Free Rountrip Ticket

One of the best ways to make/save money is by applying for credit card bonuses. I just found out that the Citi PremierPass Card - Elite Level is offering 20000 bonus points for signing up. 15K bonus points after first purchase and another 5K bonus points after $500 in purchases. If you click on the link, you will only see 15K bonus points offer. Here’s a little Hustler’s trick:

If you click on Citi PremierPass Card - Elite Level, there is only a 15000 bonus points offer showing. However, turn off pop-up blocker, and then exit the page, and you will see the page below.

Premier Elite

If you don’t want the 20000 points for $200 in gift card, then you can exchange it for an airline round ticket in the U.S. When you travel in the continental United States and Hawaii you can get a companion ticket every single time you buy a round-trip Coach Class excursion-fare ticket with your card for $299 or more. Also, for every mile you fly, you will get equal bonus points to the number of miles of your flight.

There is, however, an annual fee of $75. Lets do the math: $200 bonus - $75 fee = $125 profit. You might be discouraged, thinking, *Damn…I really don’t want to pay any annual fee.* Don’t worry, you are on Hustlermoneyblog. Here’s a neat little hustle to get away from the annual fee. Once you get your 20000 bonus points, go ahead and cash them out for an airline ticket or $200 in gift card. Now call the CSR and ask them to convert to the Regular Citi PremierPass Card. This is very simple. It’s just switching to a different card and there is no hard inquiry on your credit. Why? Because the Regular Citi Premier doesn’t have an annual fee. They will simply credit you the $75. Make sure you tell them that you will only keep the card if they reverse the fee and give you the Regular PremierPass. If it doesn’t work, threaten to cancel the card. They will most likely to offer you something to keep you as a customer. Call back to a different CSR if they don’t offer you something good. If they don’t give you anything, you can still cancel and be prorated to the amount of months left on your card. E.G. Cancel after 2 months, hence (2/12) x $75 fee = $63 back since you only have them for 2 months. YMMV.

Citi Professional Gives You 10,000 Thank You Points Bonus

My best card in my wallet would be the Citi Professional. Currently, they are running a $100 bonus promotion whereas you get 10,000 points after first purchase. Once you get your 10,000 points, you can redeem it for $100 gift certificate at any of these stores. Some of these stores include Best Buy, Sears, Target, Gap, Home Depot, etc.

To me, Citi Professional is just an overall good card with their cash back program. Citi Professional gives you 3% cash back on restaurants, gas stations, auto rentals, and office supply merchants in term of Thank You points. Also, there is no annual fee and they itemized your spending report every quarter, telling you what kind of purchases you made. On top of the $100 bonus, I highly recommend the Citi Professional card for the everyday usage.

Chase Freedom Cash Visa Signature Card with $50 Bonus

Still trying to find that great cash back rewards card? Look no further than the Chase Freedom Cash Visa Signature Card. Of the many Chase consumer cards out there, the Chase Freedom Cash Visa Signature Card is ranked on top for its cash back program. The card offers 3% cash back on gas, groceries, and quick service restaurants. You will earn 1% for all other purchases. This seem to be rock solid cash back program with groceries, gas, and restaurants(fast food) combination. You can earn triple rewards on 15 categories at the types of places you spend the most.

You would think that there are cards such as the AmEx Blue which gives you 5% cash back on the same category. However, the AmEx Blue is on a tier system whereas the 5% cash back will only kick in after $6500 in spending. The Chase Freedom Cash Visa Signature Card has no such tier system.

For a limited time, there is a special $50 bonus after first purchase for signing up.

It has no annual fee. There is a Balance Transfer fee of minimum $5 and maximum of $75 on any single balance transfer.

The best thing about the Chase Freedom Cash Visa Signature Card is you get your rewards in the form of cash and not points. Also, if you waited until you reach $200 in cash back, they will kick in an extra $50. This officially make the Chase Freedom Card to be 3.75% cash back on selective categories and 1.25% cash back on everything else. I personally have the Chase Freedom Cash Visa Signature Card and I highly recommend using it for everyday purchases.

Best Bonuses for Airline Tickets

I love getting free bonus miles from signing up to credit cards. Airplane tickets can cost an arm and a leg, so why not let the credit card companies pay for it. Some cards have no fee for first year, hence you can use your bonus miles and then cancel your card and pay absolutely nothing.

For those Cards that have annual fee, the bonus miles are worth way more than the fee. Once you used your bonus miles, you can cancel your card and ask them to waive the fee or pro-rate the fee since it’s less than 1 year.

Here’s a complete list of all the free miles you can get which add up for several flight tickets.

Consumer Cards:

Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card gives you 15000 bonus miles after first purchase. 2500 more bonus miles for each additional cardmember. No fee first year.

American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card gives you 10000 bonus points after first purchase which can be converted to travel rewards on over 21 major airlines. No fee first year.

Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express gives you 10000 Starpoints after first purchase which can be transferred to flyer programs of over 30 airlines. No fee first year.

JetBlue Card from American Express gives you 50 TrueBlue points (worth 1/2 of a round-trip ticket) after first purchase. Annual fee is $40.

Miles by Discover Card gives you 12000 bonus miles. There is no annual fee.

Citi Platinum Select/ AAdvantage gives you 15000 bonus miles after first purchase. No annual fee for first year.

Bank of America US Airway Visa Signature gives you 25000 bonus dividend miles after first purchase. $90 annual fee.

Bank of America Alaska Airlines Visa Signature gives you 20000 bonus miles upon approval. $75 annual fee.

Bank of America Hawaiian Airlines Visa Platinum gives you 10000 bonus miles after first purchase. $50 annual fee.

British Airways Visa Signature Card from Chase gives you 15000 bonus BA miles after first purchase. $75 annual fee.

Don’t just apply to the consumer cards, anybody can get the business cards. Did you know that you don’t have to be part of a corporation or LLC to apply for a business credit card? Your name is consider a sole proprietorship type of business. When filling out business credit cards, simply use your name as your business name and your Social Security number as your tax id.

How does this work? Whether you have set up a lemonade stand, a garage sale, or sold something on Ebay, your business is called sole proprietorship. This is completely recognized by the IRS with your name as your business name.

Even if you have a business, you would still put down your EIN and your social security number on your application. There will be a hard pull on your credit report. However, business credit cards will not show up on your personal credit report. Your business credit card’s balance doesn’t effect the debt-credit limit ratio. This means that you can open and close business credit cards without worrying about showing up on your credit report.

Business Cards:

Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from OPENSM the small business team gives you 15000 bonus miles after first purchase. Up to 30000 bonus miles in your first year. Fee is waived first year.

Business Gold Rewards Card from OPENSM the small business team gives you 25000 points after first purchase which is redeemable for one domestic round-trip airline ticket. No fee first year.

Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card from American Express give you 10000 bonus Starpoints after first purchase which is transferable to 30 major flyer programs. No fee first year.

JetBlue Business Credit Card from American Express gives you $50 statement credit and 25 Trueblue points (worth 1/4 of a round-trip) after first purchase. $40 annual fee.

Citi Business AAdvantage Card gives you 20000 bonus miles after $250 in purchases. No fee first year.

Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card

The Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card gives you 6000 Thank You points after first purchase. With the 6000 bonus points, you can redeem for a $50 gift card from the Thank You Network. The gift card can be Best Buy, Sears, and Target just to name a few. There is no fee to enroll in the Thank You Network and points are easily redeem.

Here’s a quick summary of the benefits of Citi Diamond:

  • No annual fee
  • 5 Thank You points for every dollar purchase from Gas, Supermarkets, and Drugstores for 12 months.
  • 0% APR on Balance Transfer for 12 months.

Few other benefits include identity theft protection, price protection program, and $0 liability on unauthorized purchases.

Usually, most cards have only either a sign on bonus or great cash back program, or 0 % apr promo. Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards has all three benefits. Although I wouldn’t do balance transfer with this card since the balance transfer fee is capped at $250. I wouldn’t not want to Balance Transfer for that high amount of fee.

If you are looking for a free $50 gift card, then apply now.

Free $250 for American Express Business Gold Rewards

American Express Business Gold Rewards Credit Card is currently running a limited promotion for 25,000 Rewards points after first purchase. The 25,000 points can be exchanged for a free round-trip airline ticket anywhere in the U.S or $250 rewards gift certificate. You can choose the $250 gift certificate from stores such as Home Depot, Gap, Blockbuster, Barnes & Noble, Banana Republic, and so on.

Whether you have a home-based business or that you have sold something on Ebay, you can apply for a business credit card. You can put your name as the business name and your social security number as the tax id. Your business is called sole proprietorship and it’s perfectly legal with the IRS.

There will be a hard pull, but business credit cards will not show on your personal credit report. Hence you can open and close accounts, open more new accounts, and max your credit limit without worrying about your credit report. The $250 bonus is worth a hard pull in my opinion.

Business Gold Rewards Card from OPEN(SM) the small business team

The $95 annual fee is waived for the first year. If you don’t find the card worth keeping, keep in mind that you can always cancel the credit card without paying any fees.

Here’s the fine print from American Express:
